Unique dining experiences in Cornwall
From elegant waterfront restaurants that serve some of the freshest fish in the world to cosy country pubs offering hearty home-cooked fare, you really can’t go wrong when you eat out in Cornwall. But these dining experiences are just a little different from the rest…
Carn Brea Castle Restaurant, Redruth
Fancy eating Middle Eastern food in a 14th century stone fortress? For a truly unique Cornish dining experience, book a table at the Carn Brea Castle restaurant and enjoy the fabulous countryside views while you sample a range of Middle Eastern dishes, including mezze, seasoned chicken kebabs, and fillet steak in a rich whisky sauce (the restaurant also has a range of vegetarian options). Space is limited so make sure you book in advance.
The Hidden Hut, Roseland Peninsula
It’s called the Hidden Hut for a reason and finding it can be a bit of a challenge, but this secluded little beach café is well worth the effort it takes to hunt it down. Hosting open-air feast nights three or four times a month featuring a single, delicious dish cooked over a wood fire, the hut offers a casual outdoor dining experience that can’t be beaten. You’ll need to book tickets in advance (join the mailing list to stay updated) or drop in at lunchtime for a pasty or piece of cake while you explore the beautiful Roseland Peninsula.
Tucked away in the middle of Cardinham Woods, the Woods Café is a cosy, family-run cottage that serves simple homemade food in a delightful woodland location. Dog-friendly and kid-friendly, it’s ideal for warming up with a pot of Cornish Tregothnan tea and a slice of freshly baked cake after a long family hike through the forest.
Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, Port Isaac
If you like seafood, you can’t beat Nathan Outlaw’s Michelin-starred restaurant overlooking the beautiful Port Isaac coastline. Serving a set seafood menu that features the freshest fish caught sustainably off the Cornish coast, diners can opt for the 8-course evening tasting menu or a smaller lunchtime option. Needless to say, booking far in advance is highly recommended.
